Take the “usual” ingredients: Jewish district, ruin pub, café, 200-year-old monument as a venue for parties, acoustic concerts or just a chit-chat with your friends — and you get  Lokál or (Local in English) as a result. But…

What makes it different

If you enter, check out the old art-nouveau café (which once used to be a bourgeois home) on the left. Weekday evenings get prepared for some acoustic music here.

When you go upstairs on the right, the weekend party might begin! Old-style paintings, thick carpets and velvet curtains, old radio & TV, colorful drawings all take you back in time, while vibrant colours on the walls lighten you up: make sure not to miss the tree (on the pink wall) with its tennis rackets and gramophone on the branches. My personal favourite is the broken beer glass in the mirror, quite a different notion of decoration! Dance here for funk, hip-hop, bigbeat, breakbeats, house swing, swing step, funk swing, electro swing and mashups.

The open-air summer terrace should not be missed out with its grill kitchen, music concerts, colourful trees or its screen for sport events.

Everything you need

This underground place is often visited by skate-lovers, no wonder there’s a skate shop here too.

But if you like dancing, Lokal is also the one for you: besides the parties, Tuesdays and Thursdays swing dance classes are being held.

lokal bar Lokal

Bicycle storage, constant drink discounts, normal prices (beers from 1,5 Euro), cocktails, darts, food, goulash party, a ruin pub to hide in one of its rooms or, on the contrary, just party and dance, no entrance fee… what else would you need? There’s everything here!
