Fekete Zaj Festival ft. Atari Teenage

Have I got a treat for you! Do you like punk? Alternative, or indie? Do you enjoy noise? Than I have THE summer event in Budapest for you. Held in the Dürer kert (of course), the Fekete Zaj festival (Black Noise in Hungarian) will be held in Budapest this year, for three days between August 16th and 19th. The tickets are cheap, the festival is jumping and this year, the guest of honor is Atari Teenage Riot!

As with most festivals, this one also has a long standing tradition. The first ones were held in the nineties in order to promote an alternative music space, the only one in Budapest, called the Fekete Lyuk, or ‘Black Hole’. The place eventually got shut down, of course, and the festival was kept alive by the only alternative music radio in Hungary, Tilos Rádió. They are currently doing this festival, and they have invited Atari Teenage Riot to come along!

The venue is a very special one. Recently turned 5 years old, the Dürer kert is a huge space that used to be the gym of a high school, and is now a beautifully remade club, home to mostly live acts and punk or alternative musical gigs, with the occasional hip-hop gig being hosted here as well. An important cultural site for nowadays Budapest alternative scene. This year the Hungarian legends and long standing enemies of the socialist system, VHK will be heading as well.
